Adventists  from all across the island converge at the Annual Agricultural Show to see the  44th staging at the Lower Valley Agricultural Grounds.   Adventists could be seen collecting admission fees,  performing beautiful music, serving  the varied cuisine and assisting with the attraction booths . From Elder Rosworth McLaughlin at the ticket booth to Marsha Smith co-ordinating the kids recreation area, Adventist members gave their full support to this event. The pathfinders had a stall serving much needed water and our  visiting  Washington Adventist University Musical Band, “Concert Winds” entertained the  large audience with their well receive repertoire of musical items.
Both Pastor Eric Clarke and Pastor Reinaldo Drackett, President and Executive Secretary of the Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventist, were out with their families, and seem to thoroughly enjoyed the day’s events. Pastor Omar Palmer, who was visiting from the Ontario Conference of Seventh-day Adventist also took time out to share in the activities.
From visiting with the farm animals, to taking the kids horseback riding, savoring the rich local dishes, and securing choice plants and produce, we all left the park with a full appreciation of the cultural flavor and the wide agricultural scope of the Cayman Islands.

The Cayman Islands Agriculture Show is held each year on Ash Wednesday at the Agriculture Grounds in Lower Valley, Bodden Town. The show highlights the Caymanian farmer, his local produce, agri-products and live-stock.

Cyclone forms – Cayman under tropical storm warning

Tropical Depression #16 has formed in the northwest Caribbean, resulting in a tropical storm warning for the Cayman Islands.
As of 10am, the cyclone was located at 20.6N, 82.5W, or about 116 miles northwest of Grand Cayman. It was moving north-northeast at 10 mph and is expected to continue on that track and make landfall in Cuba later today.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami noted that the cyclone was already close to tropical storm strength, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.  Should those winds reach 39 miles per hour, the cyclone would be designated Tropical Storm Nicole.
Even though the storm is moving away from Grand Cayman, the weather is expected to remain bad throu
gh Wednesday.
“It should be noted that the strongest winds and heaviest rains associated with this system are occurring well to the southeast of the centre,” the Hurricane Center stated in its advisory. “If this structure persists, the track of the centre will be relatively unimportant since significant impacts will be confined to the eastern portion of the circulation.”
Hazard Management Cayman Islands issued a bulletin on the storm just before 10:30am.
“The Cayman are can expect overcast, rainy weather with periods of heavy torrential rainfall,” the bulletin stated. “Rainfall model predictions indicate that another three to four inches are likely during the next 24 hours. Flooding of low-lying areas is expected and residents should take necessary precautions.”

The Cayman Islands National Weather Service stated that it had recorded 4.05 inches of rain between 7pm Monday night and 7am Tuesday.
Strong southwesterly winds and rough seas are expected to continue to affect Grand Cayman, especially along the south and west coasts, through Thursday.  The Weather Service stated that all marine crafts should seek safe harbor and remain there until further notice.

The church is getting involved in the fight against illegal firearms as pastors from the Seventh Day Adventist Church have partnered with the RCIPS to assist in accepting illegal and unwanted firearms during the last week of the gun amnesty.
The pastors have all agreed to take weapons from people who are unwilling to go to the police station and then turn those weapons over to police as part of the no questions asked gun amnesty.
An RCIPS spokesperson told Cayman 27 crews they have been working with the pastors to ensure that health and safety issues associated with handling firearms have been addressed.
