The Discipleship and Retention Ministries Director

Elder Joshua Lawrence | Email: peacemakers2008@yahoo.com

A 26-year veteran in Adventist ministry, Elder Joshua Lawrence, is the Assistant Personal Ministries Director, working collaboratively with Pastor Jeff Jefferson.

Born in the beautiful parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica, Elder Lawrence is the fourth child of Douglas and Edna Lawrence. Growing up in the church, Joshua was consistently exposed to the teachings of God through Sabbath School, AY, Pathfinder and the Choir.  He started singing at a very tender age and is the founder of the Peacemakers Gospel Singing Ministry.

His almost 26 years in the ministry began in Montego Bay, St. James, where he served as Personal Ministries Director, Evangelist, Music/Choir Director, and AY Leader.  In 2005 he moved to the Cayman Islands where he continued to serve in similar capacities.  Upon entering this great work, and given the opportunity to work with various esteemed pastors and laymen, he remains grateful to have been exposed to evangelism over the years.  This calling has taken him to many countries, where he continues to teach and preach the word of God.  In addition to his current role as Assistant Personal Ministries Director, he serves as Bible Instructor for the Conference.

Elder Lawrence has not made this journey by himself — he is married to his best friend, Carlene, who balances his personality and motivates him to be his best to the honour and glory of God.  Their union has produced a son, Joshua Carl Alexander Lawrence.

Elder Lawrence is a living testimony that the blood of Jesus Christ has the power to cleanse and heal totally and completely.  He has a passion for souls, doing what God has called us all to do — “be a witness to all people” in preparation for the soon return of Christ (Matt 24:14).

Department of Discipleship and Retention

In a major development aimed at strengthening the Cayman Islands Conference, Elder Joshua Lawrence was appointed as director for the new Department of Discipleship and Retention.

The department was created to enhance spiritual growth and to foster a sense of purpose and belonging among new believers.

This department is also responsible for the initiation and training of new believers. Accordingly, one of the key annual observances for this new department is the Conference-wide New Believers Day.
