Pastor Al Powell, Executive Secretary of the Cayman Islands Conference
astor Al Powell was born in the beautiful Cayman Islands; a third generation Seventh-day Adventist. He is married to nurse and teacher, the former Zoraida Giraldo, who greatly supports his ministry, especially in the areas of health and evangelism. The Lord has blessed this union with two sons: Daniel and Felipe.
In his pursuit to become a minister of the gospel, Pastor Powell attended Northern Caribbean University for three (3) years after which he transferred to the Universidad Adventista de Centro America, located in Alajuela, Costa Rica. There, he learnt Spanish and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology. Subsequently, he earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool in England.
Pastor Powell has served in a number of pastoral districts. Presently, he serves as the senior pastor for the George Town and Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Churches on Grand Cayman. He also serves as the Executive Secretary for the Cayman Islands Conference and is the Personal Ministries Director for the Atlantic Caribbean Union.
Prior to serving in the Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, he worked full-time at the Atlantic Caribbean Union Mission located in Nassau, Bahamas as the Youth, Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Director.
He is an ordained minister of the gospel, and he enjoys preaching in public evangelism as well as taking part in personal evangelism. He loves the Lord and wants to see as many persons ready for the soon coming of Jesus Christ.
